Public Realm Schemes
£22M: Funded by the Department for Communities and Ards and North Down Borough Council
Since 2013, Bangor, Comber, Donaghadee, Holywood and Newtownards have collectively received an investment of over £22M via public realm improvement schemes.
These schemes introduced stone pavements, architecturally sculptured planting, bespoke lighting, LED street lighting, feature lighting, public art and more, creating distinct, bespoke, high-quality city/town centres.
The Public Realm Schemes have assisted to:
- preserve and maintain the attractiveness our towns and city
- promote public health and safety of our urban centres
- ensure continued civic pride and townscape enhancement
- contribute to the long-term economic sustainability of our urban centres.
