New Drug Disposal Bin Installed at Eurospar in Millisle

A drug disposal bin has been installed at Eurospar in Millisle as part of a joint initiative to help remove prescription and illegal drugs from our streets.

The 'Remove All Prescription and Illegal Drugs' (RAPID) scheme is a joint initiative between Ards and North Down Borough Council's Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and the Public Health Agency.

The new bin is located inside the shop and enables the safe and anonymous removal of illegal and prescription drugs. The service is completely anonymous and can be used by anyone to safely dispose of any unwanted, unused or out of date medicines, illegal drugs or legal highs.

Welcoming the initiative to Millisle, the Vice Chair of Ards and North Down PCSP, Jo Scott, said:

"RAPID bins can help to protect people from the harm caused by the misuse of prescription drugs and illegal drugs. This confidential service can enable people to protect themselves and their families from this harm. I am delighted to see a new bin being installed in Millisle Eurospar and thank you to Henderson Group for supporting this initiative."

The new RAPID drugs disposal bin in Millisle complements others that are already located throughout the Borough. The bins are located at:

- Tesco, Springhill Shopping Centre, Bangor.

- Redburn Loughview Community Forum, Abbey Ring, Holywood

- Ards Community Network, ‪Frances Street, Newtownards

- Kilcooley Community Forum, ‪Kilcooley Square, Bangor

- Eurospar, Portaferry

- Eurospar, Moss Road, Millisle
