Sports Development Capital Grant Programme - NOW OPEN
The Sports Development Capital Grant Programme is now open for applications. The initiative supplies financial assistance to eligible Sports Clubs for the delivery of capital projects, within Ards and North Down.
Ards and North Down Borough Council has £45,000 available for the 2024/2025 financial year and can award up to 50% of eligible capital costs with a maximum award of £5,000 in respect of any one project.
Grants are available for capital expenditure such as facilities or equipment, defined as "expenditure for technical assistance and/or purchase, improvement, restoration and construction of an asset directly related to the applicant organisation".
St. Paul GAC has received the Sports Development Capital Grant Programme for several years and has developed many parts of their ground via the money received.
Michael Monaghan, St. Pauls GAC Chairman commented:
"Expenditure on Infrastructure improvement and upgrade, whether required by increased need, safety or for other reasons, can be costly for small voluntary sports organisations. The Sports Forum Capital Grant scheme provides a really valued source of funding and I very much welcome the announcement today of the continuation of the programme for 2023/24."
Capital Grant Applications will be open from Thursday 4th April 2024 at noon and close on Monday 29th July 2024 at noon.
Applications will be assessed in August 2024 and presented to Council in September 2024. Notification to sports clubs will be in early October following Council ratification.
